Privacy Policy

DogDish collects the minimum data needed to scan food, personalize pet profiles, keep subscriptions working, send alerts, and keep the service safe. This page covers the website and the mobile app.

Last updated: July 2, 2026 Website and app

1. What we collect

We collect the information you give us and the information needed to run DogDish.

  • Account information such as your email address, display name, auth identifier, and subscription status.
  • Pet and usage data such as dog profiles, saved foods, scans, treat logs, recall watchlists, and community activity.
  • Content you upload, including food label photos, profile photos, and community images or captions.
  • Technical data such as IP address, device model, app version, push token, and crash or error logs.
  • Payment and entitlement records from the processor or platform that handles billing, but not full card numbers.
  • Scan inputs that you choose to submit for OCR or food analysis, including the label image or text extraction results.

2. How we use it

We use the information above to authenticate you, provide the food grade and recall checks, personalize dog profiles, manage subscriptions, deliver notifications, and keep DogDish secure and reliable.

We also use aggregated or de-identified information to understand what is working, fix bugs, and improve the service. We do not use your data for unrelated purposes.

3. Who we share it with

We share data only with providers that help us operate DogDish, with your direction, or when we are required to do so by law.

  • Supabase for authentication, database storage, and private file storage.
  • Upstash for cache and rate limiting.
  • Payment providers and app platforms for subscription billing and entitlement checks.
  • Push notification providers when you opt in to alerts.
  • Service providers that host our website, handle error reporting, or help with OCR and AI features.

4. Ads, analytics, and AI

Free areas of DogDish may show ads, and those ads can be served by third-party ad networks such as Google AdMob. Those providers may receive device identifiers, ad data, and usage data under their own policies.

We may use crash reporting, such as Sentry, to diagnose app problems. We configure error reporting to avoid default PII where possible and only attach the context we choose.

When you use OCR or the AI coach, the text or image you submit may be processed by a model provider so DogDish can generate a result. We keep that processing limited to the feature you requested.

5. How long we keep it

We keep data while your account is active, while it is needed to provide DogDish, or while we must keep it for legal, tax, accounting, or security reasons.

When you delete your account, we remove active account data and make a best effort to purge uploaded images from our private and public storage buckets. Some backups, logs, or legally required records may remain for a limited time.

6. Your choices and rights

You can update your profile in the app, turn off notifications in your device settings, and delete your account from Settings at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data.

If you want help with any of those requests, email us from the address on your account and tell us what you need.

7. Security and children

We use access controls, row-level security, private storage, and server-only keys for sensitive operations. No system is perfect, but we work to keep your data protected and limit access to the people and services that need it.

DogDish is not intended for children under 13, or for the minimum age required by local law. If you believe a child gave us information, contact us and we will help remove it.

8. Contact

If you have a privacy question or a data request, email hello@dogdish.app.

This policy may change as DogDish changes. If we make a material update, we will publish the new version here with a revised date.
